What is the freaking deal with JCPL?

In the 1 year that I've lived here and had to have them for electric, I've had my power go out about 5 times (once with Hurricane Irene, which was understandable, plus 4 other instances at random times throughout the year for no reason).

I don't think I experienced 5 power outages in the 20 years I had PSEG for electric in my old town. And every time it DID go out, there was some reason...it didn't randomly just crap out.

Here, with JCPL, I feel like the power goes out at the drop of a hat. Lost power AGAIN this afternoon. I'm looking at the power outage map on their website and this is the list of towns with outages right now:

Florham Park
Long Valley
Morris Plains
Morristown
New Vernon
Randolph
Riverdale
Succasunna
Towaco
Washington
Stanhope
Blairstown
Spring Lake Heights
Brick

What the hell? Did something happen somewhere? The weather is pretty vanilla right now.

ETA: The power just came back on.

4 outages in 1 year (to be fair, I won't count the one from Hurricane Irene) seems a bit excessive to me.

I feel your pain. I had PSE&G all my life, and rarely did the power go out. Moved to JCP&L terroritory, and I too have had four or five power outages in the little more than a year I've lived here, not counting the day and a half from Irene.

I have JCP&L and I have not had 1 outage since I moved a year ago...including Irene.

Now when I had PSE&G my town would go out a lot...I had never heard of so many transformer issues!
