We converted to gas heat a few years ago and had the (leaky) oil tank removed and remediation done. Now we are in the process of selling the house and the buyer's inspection report lists as a violation the fact that the interior fuel lines still remain in the basement. The lines are capped. The tank removal process was permitted and inspected at the time of removal and remediation and the remaining fuel lines were not cited as a violation. The capped ends of the fuel lines are located right in front of the new gas furnace, coming out of the concrete floor. When the furnace was inspected by the town, the fuel lines were not mentioned. I did lots of Google searches and could not find one NJ company that mentions the removal of these lines as a requirement.

Does anyone know if leaving the lines is a violation in NJ? I'd like to see the written regulation.
