I’ve known for years that South Brunswick schools are very strong. I wanted to know if parents who have kids in the district could advise as to their experience and their kids’ experiences in these schools. I know the schools are very diverse which is a major plus, however, I have also heard the school curriculum may be accelerated to “keep up" with the many kids who may be way ahead of what is being taught on particular subjects. I have a son who makes the kindergarten cut-off date but I also was advised an extra year of preschool should be considered because of the “rigorous" academic level, even in the early grades.
Also, since the school district is so diverse, are kids and parents making friends with “everyone" or does everyone just keep to themselves?
Since I’m new to the area I really don’t know what to think so I decided to find some answers in this forum.
I really appreciate input.

This is probably not much help, but since no one else has answered, at least it's something ...

My best friend lives there and her kids are in 4th grade and kindergarten, she absolutely loves the schools. My impression is that her older son (who started kindy at age 4, his birthday is also right at the cut-off) is really smart and the younger one is more average. Both are loving it and doing well.

I don't know about the socializing except that I know she's told me her older son's friends don't understand his obsession with a sport that's very popular in their home country, by which I assume that his friends are not all from the same country his parents are from.

They're good schools, not aware of any "accelerated" program though, they sit the same NJ ASK the other districts do and get the same scores. There is a very large Indian population there and they definitely focus on education (yes, I know this is a stereotype) to the extent that a lot of kids are sent to after school programs such as Kumon for math. It also leads to a fair amount of turnover as many Indian families travel back to India for months at a time. They send their kids to school there too, so they certainly aren't behind but expect your childs friends to come and go a lot.
Everyone is very nice and friendly, it's a very family oriented town/suburb. It is certainly diverse with the Indian population rapidly reaching a majority if that hasn't already happened, especially families with school aged children.
