Yeah so I've been out of work over a year. I took a test for a job at the MVC and really rocked it, but now I have to go to an interview and I'm really nervous wondering what they might ask and all that? Anybody from the MVC, willing to admit they work at the MVC, remember how the interview was?
Just looking to ease my nerves here. I've been on tons of interviews but I'm still unemployed so I'm hoping this is my golden ticket.

My cousin works there... relax...go in and be confident. If you did great on the test, then it's a good chance you will get hired. UNLESS there is a "friend" of the current governor, or the manager at that site going for the same job. Are you applying at an agency or the headquarters?
It's an agency position, but I have to interview at the state building in Trenton. The job posting said there are 11 openings and I'm within the top 11 on the list so I was thinking It should be a piece of cake. I'll just keep that mentality, and hope an air confidence seals the deal. Thanks!
Explain to the interviewer that they need to go wait in 2 lines for at least 20 minutes and only then will you speak with them; remember to send them home if they can't produce sufficient ID to verify they are indeed the interviewer. You should be hired on the spot!
Ha ha, I imagine it is like any other job interview: they will ask why you wish to work for them, your strengths/weaknesses, your opinion on the dropping of Pluto from the official list of planets and its reclassification as a dwarf planet, etc.

When is your interview? What number did you come out on the test? Do you know where the openings are (which Agency location)?
I'm a Manager at MVC and used to conduct hiring interviews for a different unit.
Good customer service skills are a plus, as well as good communication skills. Don't forget appearance (dress to impress)!
This is actually a very good opportunity considering the economy.
Working in the Agency is no cakewalk, as some might think. You will be trained in a multitude of areas regarding licenses, titles, and identification.
There is some opportunity for advancement and still good benies. I'm not sure what the starting salary is, but you can work your way to top pay over a 9-10 year period.
Just want to thank everyone for the replies. I had the interview, which was what I expected, a non interview basically. They had a list of questions about what type of experience I had, basically yes or no answers, and any negative answer I may have had they said, "that's ok, since this is just a trainee position no experience is required." Oh, and while I was at the interview I was told not to worry that they were hiring way more than the 11 positions they posted for. Being that I had the highest score on the test and was only behind 7 veterans making my position number 8, I thought I would be a shoe in. The only other questions they asked me were what facilities I would be willing to work at.
I left the interview feeling good only to find out I didn't get the job and that someone with a lower score did. Why did I take a test if my score didn't matter? You suck, NJ!

You should have gone to the County Board of Elections and changed your party affiliation to Republican, prior to the interview.
If you had done that, you might even have had your choice of the MVC job or one paying much, much more at The Port Authority. The pals of our esteemed governor who have been placed at The PA recently are laughing all the way to the bank--at our expense.
I'm sorry that you had to learn about politics the hard way...
