I'll be relocating from the DC area to the northern nj area as soon as possible for family reasons. I'll be doing some consulting from home for a while, but hopefully be securing a full time position over the next 6-9 months. Any recommendations on towns to rent a place would be great; I'm not sure of commuting patterns but perhaps the town would be conveniently located to travel to other towns in the northern nj area when I secure a full time position. I'm a single woman looking for a safe town; perhaps have some temples or temples close by; nice but not too too/ultra expensive; have apartments, condos, townhouses that are not too old; and not in a flood zone area. I'm kind of going at this a bit blind at this time so any help would be great. Thanks so much.
NNJ covers a pretty large area - are you looking into Sussex or Morris Counties or Hudson, Bergen on the east? Is your focus northern or east vs west? Are you looking for an easy commute to the City or to find work in NJ?
Fair Lawn. Tons of apartment rentals, somewhat reasonable by NNJ standards, easy access to trains and highways, several temples
I also say Fair Lawn. You should be able to find something affordable whatever your budget, it's got two train stations, bus service, near all the major highways, and there are Conservative, Reform and Orthodox temples in town.
