Hello,
I'm new to posting but i've been lurking for awhile. My wife (Cuban-American) and I (Italian) are moving to central jersey. I work in new Brunswick and she works in Lawrence. Were looking at a diverse community and very good schools. We're narrowing it down to South Brunswick. It's noted as being a great place to live and has very good schools. However, I've noticed from the latest census numbers that the Caucasian population has dropped pretty signifcantly while other groups such as the Indian population has swelled in the past 10 years. If the town is so great, why are some people moving out? You would think people would be clamoring to get in. I appreciate any input.

Reason: Error
South Brunswick is a pretty big town and very diverse. If you're asking if there's crime issues, no.
And Indian populations all over Middlesex County have been exploding, not just in South Brunswick.
If I could move back to South Brunswick, I would. I really enjoyed my time living there.
Bottom line: Good schools, diverse neighborhoods, low crime. It's a good place to live.
Location: Splitting time between Dayton, NJ and Needmore, PA

Nothing wrong with South Brunswick. The area is clean and well-maintained. There are still many whites in the area, especially in Kendall Park and through some of the areas of Monmouth Junction and Dayton.
The influx of other races, especially those from India and the Philippines is because of the growth of the area as a central location to New York and Philadelphia. And their values are right up there with immigrants from the later 1800's. They are hard workers who work long hours, care for their families, want their children to have access to the best schools, and are culturally aware and socially active in the community.
Those whites who decided to move, frankly, were doing so for either work-related reasons (transfers, new positions) or because they had an opportunity to move into another area of the State. Many moved into the more tony towns in the northern portion of the State to get closer to their jobs.
Ultimately, you really are not going to find many problems in South Brunswick.
We border on South Brunswick, and I have never seen any reason not to recommend the place to anyone. It's a very nice, diverse, safe place with good schools.
I think West Windsor-Plainsboro schools are a bit better though.
South Brunswick is fine - it's pretty big and sprawling and different pockets have different atmospheres but it's not some Asian enclave that's gone downhill. Most of Middlesex County/Central Jersey has a growing Asian population as mentioned.
Schools in SB are good but not as highly regarded as West Windsor-Plainsboro to the south or East Brunswick. Still, you can't go wrong there and there's really no area of the town that I'd consider "undesirable"

As the OP want to commute to New York, being in South Brunswick is a lot easier. You're probably saving 20 minutes on your commute, IMHO.
And both WWP and South Brunswick are Blue Ribbon schools.
I smell racism here. So what if it is not a "lilywhite" town. This entire area has seen a large increase in Indian population, it has not seen white flight if that is what the OP is trying to imply. It is a very nice area.

UrbanQuest, please state what lilywhite town YOU live in.
