NJ has Yankee and Giant fans who could care less about F1.
But Watkins Glen doesn't have the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop, which is what they're going for.

I think this is pretty cool. I would absolutely attend. Every flavor of racing has it's positives and negatives. F-1 is the best racing in the world, in my opinion.

Ok, maybe I got my head up my butt, but didn't they already do this near the Meadowlands years ago ? I remember it being a pretty big flop both for the car circuit, the fans, and for NJ.

Is this something different ?

I think it was the Indy Car series that raced at the Meadowlands. That was the beer and steak crowd.

F1 is more the wine and quiche crowd.

I am not into racing, but I think this is a good idea. My oldest son will love this and if it isn't too much I will be taking him.

Agreed, I lived in Weehawken for the past 3 yrs...nothing ever happens in Weehawken and if it does its spillover on the border from Union City and West New York. And plus whatever incidents happen at the tunnel. And if you think Weehawken is not safe, wow you really grew up in a hole.

The route they propose, the roads aren't in bad shape, I drive by there every single day to work. In fact theres only a couple spots that may need paving... one by the ferry section on River Rd but I'm not sure they're going down that far and the turn where Blvd E hits 60th St. Other than that, the whole route is pretty smooth. And it'll look wider when they kick out all the sidestreet parking on Blvd E.

I for one can't wait and can't believe its only going to be 2 blocks away from me. Traffic will be bad around the area when they do have this but I think the local businesses will get a boost during the event since not everyone will go to the expensive areas in NYC and Hoboken to eat.

And yes I'm one of those football, baseball, AND auto racing sport nuts. We do exist.

It might be a lot to go see, Formula 1 is the elite of all international auto racing events. Like someone said before, Formula 1 is a wine and quiche event where NASCAR and Indy is beer and steak.
