it's not that they only have to be in AC, but currently, it's illegal in the entire country, as i understand it.
i'll play blackjack or craps, and the odds aren't bad, plus you drink for free. so even if you end up down $100 on the night, it's not all that different from going out in manhattan for drinks on a friday, except you have a chance at making money. i can see how some people get no enjoyment out of it. but lots of things are a waste of money to some, but enjoyment to others.
It's not illegal to play poker online. It's also not specifically illegal to gamble on sports online (though it is illegal to gamble on sports with a bookie and not at a casino in Vegas).
What is illegal is for any financial institution in the United States to accept or process money for any offshore company that offers sports betting or online poker to U.S. players. That's why the Feds seized three major sites, indicted middlemen and froze millions back in April.
i believe sports gambling is illegal in all but 4 states currently. if i remember correctly, its because the states that had it legal at the time it was federally banned were able to keep it legal. but i dont know why it is only allowed in certain cities, but even moreso if it comes to where its legal in individual homes throughout the state.
Sports gambling is indeed legal in Oregon, Nevada and Delaware, but only in Nevada are there real sports books. Delaware was all set to open them a couple years ago but had to shut down because of fierce opposition from the NFL.
I don't play slots (you'd have to be insane to play slots), but it seems to me that AC has declined because there are so many other, better options for out of state people to spend their gaming dollar. AC needs sports books and online poker.
I enjoy the slots, we're able to control ourselves so it's all good. You can pretty much guarantee that the odds are against everyone in a Casino.
I was just there yesterday and didn't even notice any penny slots. One thing i found odd was that all the tables at wild west were closed and only open on weekends.

I didn't even get down to Bally's, but that's odd that the tables were closed.
I was talking to a woman in AC asking her where all the regular machines went and why so many penny machines, she said penny machines had taken over but she had no idea why.
im guessing they have so many penny slots because of the lower bet induces more people to gamble. of course, you can still bet x per line and choose a million lines so the casino will get all of your pennies!
Except for Craps - it's the only casino game where the odds are in YOUR favor!
(unless the die are loaded, of course...)
In craps, only on certain bets are the odds in the player's favor.
