It's not uncommon for us to come home after 11 o'clock to find 10-15 deer on our front lawn.
I live in a condo complex and I often see three or four in the park across the street in the early morning hours. A few times I pulled into the parking lot, and a deer went bounding in front of my car, apparently finding something tasty in one of the neighboring unit's shubbery.
People should pay attention. I drive through towns that are known for deer populations everyday and I always slow down, turn on my beems and look for them in their typical gazing spots. They usually keep eating in the same areas.
Why should we kill them just because humans don't have common sense.
I say leave them alone.
4,700 deer/car collisions just because of driver inattentiveness?
Idealistic but unrealistic
You would'nt have liked seeing the deer that I saw trying to maneuver with two useless, broken front legs.
Many die a loooong, slooow and painful death in the woods after being hit.
some collisions could be prevented if the driver increases their attention and looks out for the deer. some cant be, there is only so much you can do when a deer runs right in front of your car. but ultimately, they are deer and we are people. they are meat with legs.
There are simply too many deer. I see them on both of my jobs and in the woods near my home. Something's got to be done. There needs to be a coordinated hunt.
Not much you can do if a deer runs right INTO your car. Never happened to me, has happened to people I know.
Personally I favor reintroducing the wolf. Environmentalists and wildlife groups have too many objections to hunting and to controlled kills for them ever to get used enough to actually work. The wolf, on the other hand, is wildlife in itself. It requires no baiting, and no firearms. Its population is controlled naturally when its prey becomes scarce. And when hit by a car, it does less damage than a deer due to its lower profile. It's also effective at controlling other pestiferous wildlife, such as rats, mice, small children, and unwanted houseguests. And the sound of a baying wolf pack adds to the ambience of the area.

its bad enough that i have to worry about running into skunks and cats when i walk my dog at night, imagine running into a wolf.
One hundred fifty people die a year and another 10,000 injured by colliding with deer. I strongly suspect that because hunting is 'politically incorrect' this problem will only get worse. Too many Bambi lovers would rather see deer starved or run over than hunted and eaten.

Don't worry about it, your dog will keep you out of their territory.
