Hi im a single individual looking to find affordable housing in new Jersey. I would like to be near the path train as I work in NYC near a path train station. Im looking to spend no more than $950 a month in rent. Does anyone have any ideas?

For $950 a month? Unless you're open for a share, nope, not very likely near any PATH stations unless the place is probably a dump. Might be able to find something in Harrison but it's not the shortest walk from the residential area of town to the PATH.

Just keep in mind that Harrison does have some buses that feed into the Harrison PATH station, so it's not necessary to live right within walking distance. Just be advised that a 1 zone bus pass is $54 per month, so your rent budget would have to be $900 rather than $950.

I remember somebody saying rents were around $1,000 in the areas around Journal Square, which is a somewhat sketchy area but is right near the PATH (just make sure it's actually near Journal Square and not in another area like Bergen-Lafayette)

You could try journal square, but as mentioned, the general area is not so great. You might try Bayonne if you don't mind going from the light rail to the PATH. Keep in mind that this will cost a little extra and add to commute time.
