Or even a job at a local fast food restaurant. 10 hours a week will take care of her food cost needs + she'll get access to food there.
or a job period. i dont understand the concept of starving when you can get oats at costco for 72 cents a pound. you can get rice for about 50 cents a pound, pasta for 59 cents a pound. if you taking some time looking at weekly specials and getting coupons, you can get other things dirt cheap. i have a ton of peanut butter that cost me 29 cents a jar, jelly at about 50 cents a pound and my bread is 89 cents for a 20oz loaf. my pb&j sandwiches cost about 10 cents each and have about 400 delicious filling calories.
Possibly, I just remember when we took our son to orientation at his university 2 years ago they were begging kids to take an application at the dining hall.
The good thing about an on-campus job as opposed to an off-campus one is that they are generally more flexible with your hours. Class schedules are accommodated.
yeah except that for most on-campus jobs, it's usually work study first, then they open them up to others.
I think the ideas listed are all great. Like it or not, your daughters only real option is to get employment, preferably in food service. The nice thing about working in a restaurant, pizza joint, or even fast food is that they generally feed you when you work and a lot of times you get to take home leftovers as well. I know when a friend of mine worked at Domino's on the side he had a freezer full of pizza all the time and would routinely come home from work with 2 or 3 pizzas. If she was able to find something at a family owned restaurant and was a hard worker, it wouldn't suprise me if they let her come in to have meals even on her off days.
The other thing to do is go and talk to her mentor/adviser if she has one or the schools counseling and/or financial aid office about her situation. There may be more programs and loans/aid available than you think there is and they may be able to advise her on steps she can take to receive more aid.

How does somebody with very limited funds pay the annual membership fee at Costco or any other warehouse club?

A Part time job. Working minimum wage 2 days a week (8hrs/day) would net you about $80 week. If you cannot feed yourself on $80 week (as long as there are no other bills) then you are doing something wrong.

its not very expensive but even still a membership probably isnt necessary. she is in college and probably has a friend with a membership. she can go with her and add in some stuff and pay for it.
but you dont really need costco. aldi has costco-like prices but in smaller quantities and no membership fee. also, you can check supermarket flyers and use coupons to get ridiculous deals. i do it and i am not nearly as in need as this starving girl.
