Long story short, I'm trying to help a young guy get into rehab, meth, but he is saying that no one will take him because he's been clean for a couple of weeks, that they want/need to detox him to be able to send him to rehab.

Does anyone know anything about this process?

Yes, I think that's usually the case unless the person has money and is looking to check himself into a private program. I've only known of an alkie in that situation though (Rehab rejected her because she wasn't drunk so she bought a bottle, sat in a park and drank it then called an ambulance on herself.)

You might want to call rehab places yourself and check, though. Drunks and druggies lie as easily as they breathe.

Thanks. I've heard this from a few people.

The young man is, of course, broke. His mom doesn't have enough money to pay for a private program.

This situation is a mess. Mom said that he can't come home until after he's been to rehab and that he must then get a job - be productive and find something to fill his time. It sounds reasonable but getting into a program is proving to be a bit of a problem. She lives in the suburbs and I just don't see how he can work without a vehicle; his truck needs a new transmission and no one has the money to pay for that. Is anyone hire drug addicts these days?

When some say there is no victims involving drug use, they fail to see these cases. The days of the state paying for rehab are ending. Anyone using had better be capable of taking care of themselves in today's environment.
