Hi Everyone,

We just moved to Livingston recently and decided it's time to do something about the hard water issue in Livingston. I know a lot of people add water softner to the water line. Is there any other option? If not, anyone know any good companies that install water softners and what is the approx cost of that? Thanks!!!

Basically there's three ways to deal with hard water. Ignore it, install a softener, install a reverse osmosis system. The third one is overkill and costs a fortune.

For softeners, I would avoid the Sears, GE, and North Star brands. These are all the same softener control and use a rotating teflon disk valve which tends to wear out quickly.
