What are some of your favorite Bergen County (even Southern Rockland County) towns to live in based upon:

1. Location/Convenience
2. Safety
3. Academics

Allendale is lovely. Great for a commuter. Nice downtown. Great school system. Safe. Affordable? There are townhouses and single family homes. Good luck with finding a wonderful new home.

My top 3 choices would be:

Ho-Ho-Kus
Allendale
Wyckoff

I don't know much about the Rockland county towns, but they have a much more bucolic feel than town feel.

Agree with these. Also throw in Waldwick for affordability. Mahwah and Montvale are nice

Allendale, Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Ramsey. Check out njgov school reports.
Believe it or not, recently, Ridgewood can be more affordable than Allendale!

I agree RW can be more affordable than Allendale. However, you'll get a lot more land/house and less taxes for the same money with Allendale. I would include Glen Rock as well to the OP.
