I'm trying to rent in South Edison for good schools.. But the low rating of Edison high school bothers me... Anybody with any inputs and opinions .
..........
Edison High does not have a low rating, just lower than the other high school in town, J.P. Stevens. It is the same district which is very good overall.
My sisters went there and had an overall good experience. Know other people who went there as well and they have said the same thing. There is a large Indian population there, who view their education as very important, you really cannot go wrong with it.
Nothing wrong with Edison HS. The reason JP Stevens is ranked higher is because 70% of the kids are Indian or Asian, and Indian and Asian parents demand that their children do well in school. If you demand that your kid does well in school, they will. School ranking is not as important as the values you instill in your kids.
jp stevens is in the north part of edison which is relatively higher income area than south edison. So jp stevens has a little more in resources and school education because of the higher taxes with property values higher in north edison. the difference is'nt much because I think both schools are pretty much the same.

Your information and/or reasoning is...invalid.
Edison (both the northern and southern sections) is ONE township, with ONE school system, and two high schools.
No matter how much more property tax is collected in the northern section, as compared to the southern section of the township, that has no bearing whatsoever on the amount of funding for one school as opposed to another school in the district. All of the tax money goes into the same pot, so to speak.

Not to mention that kids get bussed from all over. I knew a guy who lived a stone's throw from JP and all his kids went to Edison High. Kind of sucks when you live right next to a school you can walk to, but cannot go there because you are being bussed across town to the other one.

I really hope that the children are not being "bussed" by Bd of Ed employees, as they could get into some serious legal problems with that type of behavior.
On the other hand, if the kids are merely being bused, there is no problem!
For those who are confused by my jesting, all I can say is that to older folks, the word "bussed" means to be kissed, whereas transporting someone by bus was spelled as, "bused". Nowadays, it seems that either spelling can be to indicate transportation by bus, but to us older folks, there is a difference...
