Which towns within an hour - 1 1/2 of Jersey would I be able to find the cheapest land? Looking for a couple of acres in wooded area to build a house.

It doesn't matter if its going south, west, or north.

Wow. That's a question that's going to take some thinking. Before you can think "cheapest" for that type of land, you have to determine where and whether a number of wooded acres might even exist within that time range.

Well, it doesn't have to be 2 acres 1/2 or 1 will suffice. Just want to build a small alternative home, have a yard and driveway.

90 min drive would put you over a 50-60 mile range. I guess your best bet would be Hunterdon county.

Are we talking a commute time of 90 minutes?....if so Hunterdon County is certainly more than a 90 min commute time to Jersey City. Yes, on the weekends or off hours you can get to JC in under 90 min though.

I used to drive from Whitehouse Station to Jersey City and it took under 90 mins. Train commute will of course take much longer.

I'm a teacher so I have to be at work by 7:30. Hopefully leaving by 6am would leave enough time to get to Jersey City within 50ish miles

What about like Hopatcong, Netcong, and Stanhope coming from the west

Cranford, Jamesburg, Marlboro, from south

and West Nyack, West Milford, Hamburg from the north?

I'm trying to estimate traffic as well since I have to be to work earlier than the standard 9am
