Hi, I need your help!

We are a military family with 1 middle school girl, 1 elementary girl, 3 dogs and need to rent. We are moving this June to Lakehurst.

My girls are very active, music, gymnastics, cheer, swim.

Of course, great schools are important and we would like to live in a community to build friendships.

Hubby doesn't mind a drive of 30 mins, so we can be in a great area.

Any suggestions of where we should be considering? Towns, neighborhoods, etc.

Thanks so much

You should look into Toms River. It is a big town with a lot to offer. Cheer is very big here. The schools are ok and you will be close to the beach. In fact, you could even live waterfront (on a lagoon or bay) if you want.

Welcome to NJ!

I am not in the Military, but I would think the Military would be able to help you in some way.........Don't they have a support group ? as much as I love dogs, you may have an issue with 3......Check out ,Manchester, Jackson, Toms River, Brick and Lakewood......Good Luck.

Lakewood is not a good place to raise a family. The schools are horrible and there are parts of town you don't want to be caught walking alone at night. I live in Lakewood and while I have had no problems and love my apartment (on the Brick border) I do not do anything in town - I go to Brick, Toms River or Howell for all of my shopping and stuff. I wouldn't recommend it for a family.

I don't have much to offer but I want to thank your family for their service to our country. I know that the sacrifice is not made by your husband alone. All those that love him also pay a price.

I do somewhat agree with the assessment of Lakewood Schools. Don't rule out Barneget, Southern Regional High School, and others in the area. Bottom line, your children can get get a good education anywhere.

Welcome to New Jersey.
