how about the personal tour? At $300 per person for minimum of 4 people, AND when you compare what you'd normally spend anyway, and all the crap it comes with, it's actually not that expensive per person. The food is free, a lot of the attractions are free (like the go carts, but not the freefall swing, or the boardwalk games). You go to six flags, you're already spending $60 on the ticket, whatever on parking, maybe $15 food, all that stuff adds up, by the end of the day, you're already spending $150 per person.
You do the personal tour, you'll be set for like two years of fun, you'll never have so much fun in your life. Ride roller coaster numerous times in a row, ride all of them, no waiting on line, it's nuts! It's worth saving up for with some other people. Of course, I'd only recommend this if you're kids are over like 12 years old, so the memory of it really sticks with them.
I rather spend that $300 on 5 season passes. There is only so much you can do in a day before you get tired or it starts to lose its effect.
Well I live in somerset county so mapquest puts us at 1hour 20 min. Seems a bit far considering season passes. Could be $50 in gas each trip, plus food. I am interested in the concerts, are they included in the passes? or extra?

I believe all the concerts are included, but not 100% sure.
We never buy food there. It is way too expensive and usually not very good. There are some places outside the park you can eat. What we usually do is go to Wawa that is right down the street and get food. Leave it in a cooler in the car and eat in the parking lot. The only thing we ever get inside is drinks (and you can buy a big cup that you can bring back on different visits) and ice cream or something small like that.

i think you meant to say "seems a bit far TO consider season passes", right?
again, if you're going to go 2 times, it's a better deal, and from what manderly said, they throw in free parking so even 1 visit may make it worth your while. time and gas concerns are there whether you go once or twice. IIRC concerts are included with your ticket so they would be included.
i think 1hr 20 is on the high side from where you are. i'm further than you, and I'm pretty sure i can make it there in that amount of time.

agree with bringing your own food - we even do that in Disney.

All the concerts, water shows, fireworks, etc are included with the season pass or ticket price. It's general admission and many of the shows run multiple times per day. Concerts are generally scheduled once at a specific day and time.
I haven't been following the events schedule as of late, but it can be a hit or miss depending on the year. I got to take my niece to see Jonas Brothers which was kind of cool given that it was free for season pass holders.

Great Adventure is also the only park that has lockers before you enter the park so I always bring lunch in a cooler to put in a locker with my friends and we split the cost of a locker ($8 I think and you can enter it as many times as you need to) and we don't have to trek all the way to the car to eat. I always leave some frozen water bottles (you can bring in one unopened bottle of water to the park) and sunscreen in there as well. Works out nicely.
