My budget is between is no more than 300,000 due to the high taxes in new jersey? Can someone tell me safe neighborhoods that I can look into? I also know within some cities that have a bed rep there are really good parts like in new york. can anyone assist me with those specific sections or streets?
I really appreciate it. I am actually in attorney review in a house in upper irvington but I'm not hearing good things now? Not sure what to do.

You could also get a condo in a decent area for that, Sayerville, NJ. Check out houses there also, they have one of the lower tax rates.
I would bail out of that contract yesterday!! And run from that realtor, Irvington is a very poor choice. Think of your investment going into the toilet. Look elsewhere, look on realtor.com, look up the crime stats, research thoroughly. Dont just assume the realtor is looking out for you, they just want to make a sale most times. Very few honorable ones who tell you the whole story. There are nicer places.
