Hi,

I know zero about NJ. I'm moving to NYC in the next few days, and have been getting work offers (I'm a musician) out in NJ that require I rent a car.

My question is, what is the best PATH stop to find a good rental car? I looked into Newark Penn, but don't know about anything else. Is there a safer alternative than Newark to find a car in NJ coming from NYC?

Thanks!

Not a job, but I've been getting offers to play one-off gigs around the Dover area.

It's also practical to take a train to Dover, NJ, check the NJ Transit web site.

You can take the Path to Newport and rent a car from Newport Mall.

Take NJ Transit instead of the Path to the airport and you'll have your choice of rental car agencies.

airport rentals are expensive and other ones near newport set rules that make you rent for more days than you need (and then to add insult, you will have to pay to park the car in nyc and pay tolls). Some of them close early on sunday (or just are not open) so you have to return on monday. Some require multiple day rentals. Just look at a lot of places and compare. It can get quite expensive. And if you are going to rent a lot, look into getting car insurance for yourself. The "free" ones you get with credit cards look nice, but they do not give you the protection you really need (some make you "rent" the car the entire time it is in the shop)

if you live close to midtown, you can always hop the nj transit bus 125 to North Bergen (just over the tunnel) and there is a budget rent a car there.

Why can't you rent a car from Enterprise right in the city?

Anyway, there's a Hertz at Central Parking in the Harborside (Mack-Cali) building one block from Exchange Place PATH station. It's on Columbus and Greene.
