Relocating to NJ from FL, looking for beach area, close to med school and... (Matawan: to rent) - New Jersey - City-Data Forum

Hi there,

Me and my hubby are both cosmetologists, he is looking for a good area to work as a barber while I go back to med school. We are looking for a house to rent until I am done school, we have two kids and want to be close to the beach and the city, but in a clean, family neighborhood, not city like living. 30 mins to hr away from the city is fine. I am thinking Matawan, Middletown, or red bank?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I highly recommend that you also check out Keyport. It's a quaint town with easy access to the parkway (exit 117). I commuted to Rutgers for a while and the drive was 20 minutes. The drive to Sandy Hook, the first beach area near where you will be, is also 20 minutes. The NYC bus is a 50 minute ride and was walkable distance from our house.

Nice neighbors, families, students and a great waterfront area with Zagat rated restaurants.
