I think that if you send them a cease contact letter under the FDCPA, they can't use that to make it look like you agree to the existence of the debt as long as they say that it is alleged.
You were right to send them a verification request. I hope you also instructed them not to call you anytime , anywhere but will only communicate with you through writing. They need to send you complete documentation and computation for the money they say you owe. It would also be good to consult a consumer protection lawyer.
