HCG is HORRIBLE!! Its is one of the worst diet scams around. Anyone who cares about their health should RUN FAR FAR AWAY FROM ANY HCG. ITs a Scam. A fraud!!
For anyone considering, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research into this. ALL unbiased reviews, websites, doctors, FDA, trainers, nutritionists, etc. say its nothing but a scam and a fraud. Not to mention that its ridiculously expensive as it will cost you more than a gym membership AND 3-5 personal training sessions per week!!
DO NOT be fooled by the snake oil salespeople who post here saying "Oh I lost weight and my blood work is fine..." or "I followed Dr. Simeon's protocol...." blah blah blah. Its a horrible program.
Also, didnt the Ocean Weight Loss center have patients who DIED on this program? Im sure they did.
Well, I know of a few people (FB friends) who swear by it and have lost quite a bit of weight. However, like all diets you should check with your doctor.
HCG is a fertility drug used to trigger ovulation while also being the natural hormone used to detect pregnancy. Overusage is not a good thing and the HCG has klittle to do with weightloss...it is the eating 500 calories or less a day while limiting what you are able to eat that causes the weight loss. Most doctors will tell you that it is completely unhealthy and the FDA has stated so as well. The normal "menu" while on the HCG diet is as follows:
Orange and Tea for breakfast
small piece of steamed tilapia cooked with nothing and 3 stalks of raw asparagus
small piece if organic chicken breast steamed and cooked with nothing, 3 stalks of raw broccoli and tea
Eating this way simply starves your body and is not a healthy way to lose weight. I also have friends that have used the diet and swear by it. They also gained it back and then some when it was done, it affected their menstrual cycles and 1 of them is now having issues conceiving.
As someone who is currently going through fertility treatments, HCG is not something to play with and there is a reason that insurance companies will only cover 1 shot a month to trigger ovulation. It is not something to be injected on a daily basis which is what you are doing on this "diet"
Agree with the above. It's a stone soup diet. Anyone will lose * A LOT * of weight by eating 500 cal a day, no HCG needed. That said, the HCG part of it is a scam since HCG IS ONLY AVAILABLE BY PRESCRIPTION IN UNITED STATES. It just sounds better to say "secret miracle hormone" than "starve yourself until you pass out behind the wheel of your car on the highway"
MY sister in law went to an HCG clinic. She is closer to grandmother age than childbirth though. She lost a lot of weight, and looks fabulous.
I have a close friend who went for her yearly physical today, and asked her doctor to recommend a diet, because she has a reunion coming up in a couple of months. The doctor gave her a 500 calorie/day plan. Breakfast is one cup of tea and a slice of melba toast. Lunch and dinner are 3.5 ounces of protein (chicken, beef or fish) and 6 cups of steamed vegetables. Nothing else.
My SIL ate better than that with the HCG plan.

Unless she's is morbidly obese and requires rapid weight loss in order to receive a life saving surgery, I suggest she looks for a new doctor. I can recommend one or one thousand better ones, give or take.
No doctor worth a dime would recommend a 500 calorie a day diet. As a matter of fact most doctors will recommend between 1300-2000 calories a day of a balanced diet with exercise to get the best results with maintaining the weightloss.
As the previous poster said, unless the person or morbidly obese and needs to lose weight quickly for a surgery no doctor in their right mind would recommend it. It is a malpractice suit waiting to happen.

That doctor is an idiot. It's scary your friend is clueless.
A 10 pound infant needs at least 500 calories per day.
The HCG "diet" is also a huge load of crap.
It's a quick fix, nothing else, and in one study (you go look it up) those who were getting the placebo injections lost just as much if not more weight than those who were injected with the "real stuff".
Who in their RIGHT MIND, especially a woman, would want some extra hormones injected in to their body?
Hire a trainer.
Take a walk around the block. Stop shoving high-caloric food in your mouth all day long.
Still all about HCG? Call the clinic/doc and ask for references.
This "diet" has cropped up on the NJ CD board for years...are people employed by some specific "clinic" in NJ to keep on bringing it up after it's been shot down every time it's been brought up?
It makes NO sense that the thread wouldn't have been started where it belongs...on other CD boards. Such as, "Health and Wellness"....
The diet is not 500 calories. I lost exactly what they said I would lose and followed the diet that was provided. I was not hungry and lost a pound/day. The hcg helps with using fat instead of muscle during the low fat/no carbs diet. I thought it was an easy diet and I saw results within 2 weeks. After this 40 days and 40 lbs loss, I will start again to lose a little more.
