I have been looking to buy a house on Westwood Blvd in Westwood, NJ. The house is in between Emerson Rd and Hooper St. But my realtor discouraged me saying it was a 'bad' area of town.
I am surprised.... I never thought of Westwood to have any 'bad' areas. I know it as a cute town with a solid middle class population and not a lot of crime. I want to move my middle to upper middle class family with myself, hubby and my little 1 year old boy. I want a safe, quiet area with local parks and a good school system.
Can anyone with any experience in Westwood explain what my realtor could have possibly meant by saying it's a 'bad' area?
It isn't the most desirable part of town. It is surrounded by commercial zoning, and off a busy road. There are many more strictly residential parts of town that are preferable.
I don't think people in Westwood look down on that area, it is just considered inconvenient and away from all the schools and downtown attractions.
I wasn't aware of Westwood having any "bad" areas in terms of crime/safety. That area can be trafficy/more congested, so perhaps that is what your realtor meant?
A lot of people look down on that area of town because there are more minorities there...the town is mostly white outside that part. But it's a perfectly safe place. The only drawback is that it is somewhat cut off from the rest of WW.
