My wife and I are looking for an apartment/rental house in NJ. I'll be working in Manhattan, and we're looking for an interim rental before we buy. What would be the best places for :

- Within 1 hr commute
- safe, quiet area
- more small town feel than big city
- rental from 2000-3000

schools aren't important, house would be preferred.

Thanks for any leads!

Theres not many homes for rent in my town (Wayne) but if you're looking for a safe quiet area, I know of two homes specifically that I would recommend...

One is on Pines Lake Drive East for $3,000 (which is located in the Pines Lake community of Wayne), and the other is on Highland Terrace for $3,500 (which is several blocks up the hill from the lake in the Packanack Lake community).

The one on Highland Terrace has been on the market for over a month now, so I'm sure you could negotiate a deal. Both are single family homes, well-landscaped, updated, etc... My suggestion is check out GSMLS (Public) for some information for the listed rentals.
