Note re NJ Transit trains--the problem is the Penn Station tunnels and signals. If you are on a train line that goes to Hoboken, they are reliable. From Hoboken you connect with PATH.

Remember that in New York City, Houston Street is pronounce "How-ston", not "Hyoo-ston" like the city in Texas!
I am also looking for places in NJ that can provide a short commute with access by a bus or train to NYC. I am particularly looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom townhome community for rent9 possibly to buy) I will be working in NYC so will travel back and forth everyday. i also have a ten year old so looking for a kid friendly community. Any help or suggestions would be great

Hundreds of thousands of people commute to the city every day from many towns. You need to provide more info, including a budget. Please answer the questions in the sticky at the top of the forum so that people can give you information thar fits your situation. Note that Jersey is densely populated partly because everyone wants what you are seeking. Be realistic.
Look into Sprinfield NJ and Montclair NJ. Good luck!
