Note re NJ Transit trains--the problem is the Penn Station tunnels and signals. If you are on a train line that goes to Hoboken, they are reliable. From Hoboken you connect with PATH.

awesome sounds good i'll check them out. thanks a lot everybody for the info. kind of a lot to take in moving the family to a place we've never visited before, but you guys have definitely been a lot of help in pointing me in a good direction.

Remember that in New York City, Houston Street is pronounce "How-ston", not "Hyoo-ston" like the city in Texas!

Default working in NY and relocating to NJ

I am also looking for places in NJ that can provide a short commute with access by a bus or train to NYC. I am particularly looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom townhome community for rent9 possibly to buy) I will be working in NYC so will travel back and forth everyday. i also have a ten year old so looking for a kid friendly community. Any help or suggestions would be great

Hundreds of thousands of people commute to the city every day from many towns. You need to provide more info, including a budget. Please answer the questions in the sticky at the top of the forum so that people can give you information thar fits your situation. Note that Jersey is densely populated partly because everyone wants what you are seeking. Be realistic.
