North Brunswick - New Jersey [question/concern about Hartland Commons/Governor's Pointe] (New Brunswick: townhome)

My husband and I took a walk outside the new K Hovnanian construction on Hartland Commons and we not only saw weird elements hanging about, but at the junction of commerce Blvd and Hartland Commons got shouted the "F%^& You" so loudly by someone in a passing car that I was shocked beyond words. We've stayed for 4 years in Franklin Park, Nj and haven't heard or seen anything like that. What is that all about? Is that area unsafe? We were planning on buying a K Hovnanian twnhome on Hartland COmmons and now we're not so sure - first privacy and next safety!! Please, any helpful pointers or answers are much appreciated! I think it is just one off and can happen at any place. I have a friend who brought a house and moved recently. It is not a bad location at all.

I have been living in Governors Pointe for over 2 yrs now and that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Not only is the area safe but also one of the better neighborhoods in the NB area. Before buying our townhome in GP, we surveyed quite a few communities in EB, NB and the general area. Our community is very well managed with almost no issues. I am hoping Hartland Commons is done the same way so our value does not go down.

The area is very diverse and you will see non white and people of all ethnicity in the neighborhood. I hope you are not referring to these as "weird".

I agree. I know there were some issues there like 12-14 years ago, but it is very clean and quiet now.

North Brunswick overall is one of the more diverse towns in NJ, both ethnically and socioeconomically, but the schools are good and beyond the area immediately bordering New Brunswick along Livingston Ave, the town is very clean and well kept. It is generally a nice area that has some shanty areas, much like any other town in this area. Never heard anyone who lives here complain about it.
