I am scheduled to take an Amtrak train tomorrow at 8:05AM out of Penn Station to DC. My NJ transit train arrives at Penn Station at 7:35 AM. Will I have enough time to get to the Amtrak train?

Any advice on navigating the train station quickly? Thank you!!

Plenty of time! Barring some kind of catastrophic failure and delay (which would probably affect Amtrak too anyway), you shouldn't have a problem. And you'll probably have enough time to pick up a cup of coffee and a bagel (food on the Amtrak cafe car is terrible)

On a Sunday morning the station shouldn't be too crowded, which makes moving around easier. Amtrak folks check passenger tickets at the staircase leading to the track your train will be on, so you have to use the stairs in the "Amtrak station" section of Penn Station. This is the big round room on the upper level close to the 8th Avenue exits where the BIG schedule board is (not the NJTransit or LIRR terminal sections). The track number will be announced about 10 minutes before the scheduled departure, and folks will funnel to the ticket-checker.

So assuming your NJT train arrives on time, you'll have 15-20 minutes to kill before the track for your Amtrak train is announced.

That's plenty of time. Just make sure you know which Penn Station you're using. All the stations between Trenton and Manhattan are "Penn Station".

^ NJBest brings up a good point. I assumed you meant NEW YORK Penn Station. If it's Newark Penn Station, you'll still have plenty of time. You just need to look at the monitor to see what track the Amtrak train will depart from (probably Track 3 or Track 4). It'll take you 2 minutes to walk there from anywhere in Newark Penn. So still time to get a coffee!

Default Don't where high heels.

Do you have everything ready? Do you need to still get your ticket? If not, you are fine. You will make it in time.
