I currently live and work in Montgomery county, PA. My job is moving to Jersey city so I am looking for suggestions for renting.
1. Neighbourhood needs to be safe.
2. I would prefer the commute to be around 30 mins but no more than 45 mins.
3. I would prefer areas that are in the suburbs.
I am looking to rent a 2 BD/ 2 BA apartment. How much should I expect to pay in rents for such an apartment?
Any suggestions on newer or remodled apartment properties would be very welcome as well.
within 30 minutes of Washington Blvd is very tough unless you live in Newport, Grove Street or somewhere in Jersey City. if school is not a priority/issue, i strongly suggest you live in Newport. it will surely be expensive but you will be within 5 minutes walk to work and save a couple hundred in commute expense.

There are a slew of areas in Jersey City that are good , with the exception of Greenville and Bergen Layette.... Newport is abit closed off and isolated unlike most parts of the city.
The OP said suburbs. Why are you suggesting Jersey City???
Look at Woodbridge. Large suburban town, access to everything you need, lots of affordable rentals. 20 minutes train to Newark Penn Station, where you switch to PATH for a 16-minute ride to Exchange Place. Washington Blvd is about two blocks.

No theirs not, stop being a spokes man for a city you never lived in. Grove st up to the water is nice and what .... one block in the heights? The rest ranges from "Ehhh" to bad.
Oh and I'll give you Country Village too. A bit isolated but a nice neighborhood.
