About us.........

We're 30-something couple, 4 year old DD. We are of Asian-indian heritage, but I was born in raised in the USA, and other than skin color, we are 100% Americanized.

I'll potentially be working in Lawrenceville by Quakerbridge Mall.

Been seriously looking at Bucks County-Newtown PA and love everything about the area, though the Asian population is miniscule.

1st off, in no way do we have to be surrounded by Asians or Indians to feel comfortable. Heck, here in Northern Virginia a majority of friends are non-asians. HOWEVER, I also don't want my daughter or wife to feel out-of-place be it with Girl Scouts, schools, whatever. So, West Windsor on the radar screen. Looks great on paper but I worry about Trenton which is close-by.

How much Trenton spill-over into West Windsor? Is there much Trenton influence in schools? Grocery store? Nassau Pavillion? Safety is of importance, and I'm wondering if there is a "trenton effect" that causes crime that otherwise wouldn't be in West Windsor.

On a side-note, how 'accepting' is Skillman, vis a vis diversity?

COMMUTE: Work is Lawrenceville. Any ideas how the commute would be from Skillman or West Windsor?

Thanks.

You probably want to post this in the main NJ forum, not South Jersey. Also do some searches on that forum. Many threads about the West Windsor area. That being said, there is absolutely zero "trenton" spill-over in West Windsor.

Is there any reason you are only considering those two towns? What about Princeton, Lawrenceville, Plainsoboro, Pennington, South Brunswick?

Commute from WW to Quaker Bridge Mall, 10 minutes tops, from Skillman, probably about 20 minutes.

The only Trenton influence in WW are thugs stealing the occassional car from the Princeton Jct. station (the station is patrolled pretty vigilantly) and shop lifing from the WalMart in WW. Little to no personal crime.

WW is buffered from Trenton by Lawrence and Hamilton.

Yeah I like both towns you are looking at, I'd add Plainsboro, South Brunswick and Robbinsville as well. Drive around, go in the stores, talk to people and see which is a better feel for you.

Isn't that Princeton? Did a quick search and this WalMart is considered to be in Princeton, just over the highway from West Windsor.

A portion of that side of Rte. 1 is still in WW but have a Princeton zip, same w/ MarketFair, the Canal Pointe neighbourhood, Trader Joe's. Whole Foods and the Princeton Seminary Housing. Princeton address but actually in WW. Same w/ parts of Plainsboro like Princeton Landing and the Forrestal area. They are physically in Plainsboro but have a Princeton zip. The kids in these neighbourhoods still go to WW-P schools.
