Nothing. Pretty simple

Default What is Morristown doing about the Illegals Problem?

Everyone is pointing the fingers at the few migrant workers, gathering on sidewalks, street corners, deli fronts.

Everyone asks: what are they doing, why are they standing there like that, what gives them the right to just stand there in groups?

The answer could not be simpler. WE Americans are giving them jobs, thus they work for US.

Look away from street corners, instead, look at everyone's lawns, look in every town, on every street in the country. THEY ARE WORKING and doing what people want them to do. Blowing those leaves away. Cutting that barely-there grass. Trimming. Spraying. Pruning.

Can't they get a break between jobs and chat to their friends on street corners? Can't they just stand there if they want to? What else are they supposed to do???

I used to think different. I too used to bee annoyed. But, I've thought about it, and am not bothered by any of this anymore.

Makes no sense.

I understand that the idea of people being in the country illegally and being employed while we all know many people struggling in unemployment is frustrating, but we need to parse the facts from the fiction and truly understand the impact of illegal immigration. It is only then that we can understand why our government doesn't do anything, or doesn't do enough, to curb illegal immigration.

First: We Do Pay Taxes, And The Government Knows Exactly Who We Are - Business Insider

Illegal immigrants do pay taxes, AND they pay into social security, while not being eligible to take anything out. Nobody seems to care that illegal immigrants are being exploited.

Second: FactCheck.org : Does Immigration Cost Jobs?

People think that illegal immigration costs Americans jobs. And while there may be a few cases that a business will opt to hire an illegal over a willing American, this benefits society as a whole. They often take jobs no American is willing to take. They are often also more willing to take less wages. This is a boon for both small businesses and consumers alike. If anything, illegal immigration is a great thing for Americans as a whole, just as outsourcing manufacturing is as well. While the unemployment rate may rise a few percentage points, the cost of goods will also lower, benefitting more people than it hurts. That is the stark economic reality of the matter, and that is why lawmakers are so hesitant to take drastic steps.

Imagine if all illegal immigrants were suddenly deported. Yes, the unemployment rate would fall, but crops on farms would go unyielded, food costs would skyrocket. Restaurants would either go out of business of charge exiorbitant prices. Other people would lose jobs, while the rest of us would pay more for food. In this economy, is this a step we're all willing to take?

Not so good for workers, however.

What do I care about the cost of goods if my income is zero and I've run out of savings?

This is all because our legal immigration policy is terrible.

Currently the immigration argument isn't as big a deal since our economy sucks so bad from:

- A decade of tax cuts while fighting multi-billion dollar, unwinnable wars

- A phony, inflated housing market where lots of corporate malfeasance took place yet no one went to jail

- And the inevitable bubble economy crash with bankers & 1%ers being bailed out and no one able to get credit like they did before from the bailed out banks who were SUPPOSED to help the credit markets.

So with all of that awesomeness, the immigrants have stopped coming. They know a crummy deal when they see one. The rest of us are stuck with this mess.

They go to other states where it's easier to get one or simply they don't have one and don't forget that it's almost impossible to get a DL from NJ if you're here Illegally

In fact even if you're here legally sometimes it'll take a little bit more of time to get it
