We have one of those huge total body gym machines that the previous owner left in our house (at my husbands request ) in almost three years it hasn't been used once and I'm ready to be rid of it. Someone suggusted I sell it for scrap metal and I was wondering if this is worth the hassle it's very very heavy (duh) and it won't fit in my car so I'd either have to go in two cars or ask a neighbor to borrow a truck but I'm not going to bother with all that if all I end up fetching is $25 you know what I mean?
So what can expect from the process and does anyone know of a reputable scrap place in passiac or northern bergen county?

Reason: spelling
We just sold a bunch of scrap metal (railing) and got about $60. Better than nothing! I'll get the deets from my husband and post. It was around Paterson.
Tahiti either I sounded like a defenseless no idea what I'm getting myself into chick OR the price fluctuates WILDLY!! I just called and they said 10 cents a pound
I guess I gotta figure out how much that thing weighs to see if it's worth the gas money.

Put it on Craigs List and somebody will pay you and haul it away.
There is a place just off Rt 46 near the GSP, Curcio Scrap Metal in Saddle Brook, call them or check online for prices and details.
Yes pricing does vary by what metal it is, etc.
My husband scraps stuff all the time, he's a mechanic and where he works lets him take "garbage" with him. He uses S&L in White Twp.
My dad down in Ocean County scraps for a hobby. He makes about $60/week, sometimes more. That pays for his groceries. It keeps him busy, plus he loves doing it. He even picks up small appliances that people put out for trash and takes the copper out of the cords etc.
Prices fluctuate and prices vary among different types of metal.
Selling soemthing like a old gym machine is probally not worth the trouble.
The money you get is based on the actual metal and how clean it is.
like copper wire stripped is higher price that scrapping wire with insulation on it.
remember, these places are not junk yards, they want metal, no other parts.
Put on Craigs list
You can charge a price or put up for free,
there is a web site for free stuff.
you say, "it's at the curb"
whoever gets there first.
then quickly it desappears
