I have applied for two Fed jobs, one is in Newark the other is in the Bronx. I have posted in the appropriate forum for the latter... So here I am for the former.

Where are you coming from? New Mexico
Why are you moving? Work
Where will you be working ? If NYC, what part of NYC?

Newark. I'm not sure of the exact location. It's either at the Produce Terminal Market or roaming around the city.

Will you buy or rent?

Rent

What is your budget ?

1200-1300

What kind of place are you looking for ?

Apartment, 1 bedroom.

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you ?

Yes. A small dog.

Do you need/want good public schools?

NO

Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood you'd like to live in
(examples: families with young children, young, mature, artsy, diverse, safe, close-knit, block parties, etc)

I'm young and single so I sure don't want to spend all of my time off cooped up in my apartment. Diversity would be a plus, I enjoy meeting new people of all flavors. As for safe? Who doesn't want safe, but with all of the travelling I do (small towns, and large cities) I understand that anywhere can be dangerous if you aren't smart.

List three things that are important to you in order of importance.(examples: nightlife, outdoor activities, rural/urban, safety, downtown area, charming, new construction, proximity to XYZ, family oriented, easy parking, short commute, etc)

Maybe newer apartments, decent parking, nightlife. (three is unfair haha, but I realize how difficult it would be to accommodate ALL things.)

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR TIME.

Look in Harrison & The Ironbound section (Little Portugal) of Newark ....I'm assuming your work is in Port Newark and the Industrial parts of NYC...

Take a look in Morristown. The newer properties will be mostly out of your price range, but still some options: Homes for Rent in Morristown, NJ | Homes.com

Popular for young singles/couples. Access by train to Newark Broad St. station.

I was uncertain of how much time you'd need to be in NYC? Morristown might be a bit distant if that is a big requirement.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm almost 100% positive I won't be needing to work in NYC.
