Hello All,

I'm a young male college graduate in my mid-20s looking for a new place to live. I'm actually currently working in Upper Saddle River, NJ but still living at home and I desperately want to move out. I currently only have a 20 minute commute to work and would like to keep that commute under 45 minutes if possible.

With my current position I can afford up to $1000 a month including utilities, though that will leave me with little funds to enjoy myself. Sadly I have no friends interested in moving to help ease the costs. I've thought about finding roommates on craigslist, but I've been propositioned by too many men in their 40s to take anything on that site seriously. Though if you know anyone whose in the same age range and is interested in hanging out with a mid 20s male who plays the guitar, is more into Stevie Ray Vaughn then Ke$ha, is more a fan of Halo then basketball and brews his own beer let me know.

I'd like to find a place where I can meet people similar to my own age and has an active night life as well as a simple commute to a nature walk or park. I admit I'm not a huge fan of typical bars that blast hip-hop songs, I prefer bars with live venues and bands. If friends visit though I'd like to take them out to places they'd enjoy. I'm sure this falls out of my commute range so I'm willing to compromise. Avoiding being stabbed or shot would also be a nice plus. I went to school in Albany and had to deal with a fellow student being shot in the head on my street. Not fun times.

So does anyone have any advice and / or suggestions? Places I can use to look? Realtors they know of that would be useful? If you need more information just let me know.
