All Casino cities have crime and seedy areas like this , Windsor ,Canada , Bethlehem,PA , Las Vegas are no exceptions. Casinos seem to bring more issues to a city then wealth and pride...
the casinos arent what brought problems to atlantic city. also, with atlantic city the problems are too close to the hotels. you really cant walk more than a few blocks away from the main areas before you are in a bad place to be. with vegas, you can walk the length of the strip safely and also off of the strip in areas.

But if i recall correctly , AC wasn't this bad before the Casinos it was closer to Ocean City or the Wildwoods...
AC casinos have become a target rich environment for criminals. Its their main feeding area. Makes sense that more crime occurs with the presence of more victims.
This isn't playing to well on Canadian news........there calling us a Dangerous state...
Compared to them perhaps we are. NJ overall isn't a dangerous state in our own borders.

In all fairness, you won't find one US city like that. Our crime rates overall are much higher than Canada. In fact, Canada has some of the lowest crime rates in the world.
I never understood why people get upset about a freak occurrence like this. Unfortunately things happen. Getting murdered is just not worth worrying about. If you want to do something, go do it. live life to the fullest
This is pretty much my philosophy as I've been to some of the most dangerous places on Earth. These days it's all headlines.
Lets not forget within the last two years they also had two fatal car jackings in hotel parking lot...
I remember that. Yes, AC is not a always pretty place. I go once or twice a year because I like to gamble a little, but I wouldn't walk around there at night.
They also had some kind of serial killer operating down there--don't know if they ever caught him. Prostitutes were murdered and dumped in a drainage ditch.
Drug use is huge, too, and not just in the ghetto areas. My friend lived in Ventnor City, just south of AC. A lot of Ventnor residents work in the casinos. My friend was a recovered alcoholic, and almost everyone she knew was a recovered drug addict. And some weren't quite so recovered.

Don't think they even had a valid suspect on the radar..
In any case this is not good PR for AC as it's on the national news and even that rag Daily Mail in the UK has run the story
