We are thinking of relocating from Brooklyn to NJ. We are looking at Millburn, Summit and Springfield. We need to be on a direct train line to Penn Station that gets into the city within 45 minutes or in a town that would be a 10 minute drive to Summit train station.

Can anyone provide some insight on living/raising a family in Springfield, Summit or Millburn, NJ? What is it like in the town? How are the people? What kinds of things to do?

Also, does anyone drive to Summit to commute to NYC? Are there monthly parking spots? How is the commute?

Any advice would be wonderful!

Thanks so much.

You can check train schedules and parking info on njtransit.com
Summit and Millburn are very affluent towns, good schools. Springfield is decent enough.

I think 45 mins from door to Penn may not be that achievable unless you live opposite a train station. Commute to Brooklyn definitely will be a PITA

There are tons of helpful threads here on all of these towns. Use the search feature. One thing I'll say is that Springfield isn't generally considered to be the same league as Millburn or Summit with respect to overall affluence, school reputation, walkable downtown etc.

Also consider South Orange and Maplewood.
