PSE&G does not a competitive price. Their replacement systems may be good and the workmanship solid, but they are on the high side of the price scale.
Make certain you know exactly what needs to be replaced. There are five parts to a central air unit:
The
air conditioner compressors, located outdoors within the condenser unit is responsible for providing the pressure difference in an air conditioner system.
The
air conditioner condenser, it’s a square (or round) metal box located outdoors.
The
air conditioner evaporator, located indoors within the air handler or furnace.
The
air conditioner refrigerant copper tube. It is copper tube that connects the compressor, the condenser, the metering device, and the evaporator.
The
air conditioner expansion valve which is a metering device. It is located indoor in the air handler or furnace.
To replace everything, which is usually recommended, you could check with
Jack Dolan and Sons or AJ Perri. Just stay away from Gold Medal out of East Brunswick. Absolute crooks.
PSE&G is an option but they are going to be on the high side of pricing.
I'd also suggest looking carefully at getting a
Goodman AC Unit. I have not owned them personally, but a number of friends have owned them with very good results for nominal cost.
Hope this helps.
