Hi,
I was thinking to move to Garfield area. I saw some nice houses close to the train stop. It seemed like a nice area. Does anybody know how long is the ride on NJ Transit train to Garfield? The stop is Plauderville. What do you think about the area? Thank you.

Ooops, my apologies. I meant, how long is the ride from New York Penn Station to Plauderville stop in Garfield? Any comments about the area?! I appreciate your input.

There are some nice houses there, and they are more affordable than in much of Bergen County. Do you have a family, or are you looking for equity and maybe rental income?

Hi,
It's for a four member family. We have two babies, not ready for school yet, but I know it'll come before we know it. We live in the City now, so just trying to get away from these ridiculous rents here. As much as I can find out, the schools are pretty good. Do you know anything about the school system in this area? As for travel time, you said 20-25 minutes, that's a really short commute. You're right about the property prices compering them to the rest of Bergen County, they are lower, I wonder why. Thank you.

Garfield is a city. The houses are for the most part, multi family, and they are very close together - not much property. This is why garfield is much less expensive than the rest of bergen county. Garfield is NOT a typical bergen county town. You should know that Garfield is an abbott district. Overall, i would say it a less desirable area to live in. The commute is decent though.

Nice is relative to the basis of comparison in which you are using. I assume you are using NYC as a benchmark?

Plauderville should be 25 minutes to the Secaucus Transfer station and 1/2 hr. to Hoboken terminal.

The only nice homes near Plauderville depot I would recommend and which are in walking distance would be

1. Garfield - near the Russian Orthodox Church, Manner Ave. and north end of Century Field.
2. Garfield - Hartman Avenue area and maybe near #9 school.
3. Saddle Brook - section between 5th and Midland.

Good luck !!!
