I will be relocating to NJ in November and my work place is in Morristown (South Street). I need to find a place to stay near Morristown which is safe for family (will be relocating with my wife and 1 yr old kid), is commutable to Morristown by local transport ( will not have personal transport for first 2 months ) and has some transport within town for shopping etc. I am willing to commute for 30 - 45 mins to work.
I am looking for a 1BHK apartment. Budget is around 1k pm.
Looking forward to your valuable suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I dont know of any unsafe areas in Morris County. The worst area is Dover but that is not dangerous, its just hispanic and you might not speak the language.

Downtown Morristown has this. The area outside the "city" part of it is rather suburban with neighborhoods surrounded by areas of trees. The area is hilly.

Your budget is probably a problem for a short term rental. Long term maybe... BUT...
small problem is I belive there is some law that says kids >1 y/o can not share the bedroom so you might have to rent a 2 br. $1k probably wont happen then.

Reason: clarity
Thanks for the reply. I am looking for a long term lease. Is it possible to commute from areas like Edison, New Brunswick, Somerville to Morristown by public transport on a daily basis ?
I rather doubt 45 mins is doable during rush hour with a car. I dont take the train. Check NJ transit for their schedules but I rather doubt that too.
