My spouse and I will be working in woodcliff lake and bronx respectively ) I am planning to go over the tappan zee bridge to bronx. we have 2 elementary school aged kids..

we are looking for a spot to live in bergen or rockland.

our major thing is to find a town + to buy a house with least amount of resell value loss of house

which one of these towns would you recommend? or any other town recommendations?!!?? or any particular one among these that we should avoid?

hillsdale
Montvale
nauet
pearl river
northvale
old tappan
park ridge
rivervale
upper saddle river

hillsdale Very good place, nice big houses, great schools.
Montvale Very good place, nice big houses, great schools.
nauet Dont know
pearl river Dont know
northvale Dont know
old Tappan Very nice area, houses have held their value quite well.
park ridge Very nice but not as good as Old Tappan
river vale Same as Park Ridge
upper saddle river Very very nice area but its going to be far from Tappan Zee

Also look at Alpine if your budget allows.

Old Tappan and USR have held their value quite well, some houses have even appreciated over last couple of years unlike other parts in NNJ

We just moved to river vale and really like it. I commute over the tz bridge daily and it is a very easy commute. The schools are great and it has a very small town feel. Housing seems to hold its value here a little more than rockland county. We are right next to woodcliff lake too

Also, we were doing the same school research last year and the schools ranked better than park ridge. River Vale and Hillsdale share a high school, which has a 10 rating from insideschools.org

I thought insideschools.org was only for NYC schools...

At the level that both those districts operate you are kind of splitting hairs.

I would look at Ridgewood or Westwood in those areas. Ridgewood has a great town center but may be out of your price range. Since you're considering Upper Saddle River, I threw it in there.

Westwood has a town center too and I would pick that one if I couldn't afford Ridgewood....
