Hi,

I have two children and two houses, I am thinking to register each child in each of the school district.
Does anyone know whether it is possible?

I found the following regarding residency requirement, http://www.edlawcenter.org/assets/fi...mentsGuide.pdf

there is a paragraph on Temporary residence in the school district which states
"Even if the parent or guardian of a student is not domiciled in a school district, but is living in that district temporarily, the student has the right to go to school in that district"

I will be living in one of the houses as it is closer to work, can I register my child to the school district in my temporary residence?

I knew the daughter of one of our teachers attends our high school even it is common knowledge that he does not live in our district. He claims that the daughter comes to live with "an aunt" even she goes "home" with him everyday.

thanks

You can only 'live' in one house at a time. You need to pick one. That's were you can enroll them. One in one school district. one in another, you will get caught. and odd are both school districts will make you pay tuition.

Most teacher contracts allow them to have there children them go to school in the district where the teacher works.

but there are two parents, and parent can live in separate houses. We pay property taxes on both houses,
it is not like we are stealing from the district or tax payers. However, I like to find out whether it is legal or how to make sure it legal...as from my previous link, it referenced temporary residence, hence I am not sure how it can be illegal if I own the house.. But I know even calling the school, they may not know the answer.

As far as the teacher is concerned, our district does not have the policy allowing their children to study in our district. Initially, the story was that his daughter ran away from home, hence they got her to live with her "aunt", but as far as we can tell, there is no issue between the daughter and the teacher's family.

as to the question on "why" - the two districts serve the needs of the two children differently.

In our district, all we had to do was provide proof of residency (in our case a mortgage).

We have a family in our district, husband and wife, 2 kids. He stays in a small home across the street from the train station (he walks to the station, kids go to the schools) during the week. They spend the weekends and summers at the home they own in another town where Mom stays.

They have been doing this for many years. Our district no longer has the policy of allowing "out of district employees kids" to attend the district schools.
