They should air that in the "NJ Comeback" commercials that we hear daily all over.
a better commerical would be to show CA's three cities filing for bankruptcy and then put the slogan on the screen, "NJ and You - California Dreaming!"
While I might agree with it's conclusion, I don't agree with it's methodology, it seems like complete garbage.
How exactly does a state drop 18 places in Infrastructure/Transportation in a year? Unless the apocalypse hit while I wasn't paying attention, I'm pretty sure it's all about the same as last year, and probably a bit less crowded with gas prices.
have you taken the NJ transit or PATH to work lately? also even if our transportation remained the same(it has not) but other states improved theirs NJ would still fall.
But transportation/infrastructure is only a small part of why we ranked 41st. The article provides pretty transparent stats on how it ranked the states.
CA is 40th and NJ is 41st???
Something not right with this survey or perhaps the label is a bit misleading.
With all of CA's troubles and business leaving the state it seems inconsistent that it has a better rank than NJ.
One place in the rankings is insignificant. The point is they are both bad places to do business, and to live IMHO, because of the high taxes and enormous number of regulations on businesses and people.

Hmm , not same... They spent close to 21 Billion this past decade on restoring the Network and upgrading it , although there's a backlog of 30 Billion in projects statewide. Theres currently 3.5 Billion in Projects underway to be completed by 2014....there should be 15 Billion more projects done by 2025 not including Amtrak. We've really fallen behind on Road and Bridge upkeep , instead increasing spending on New roads and bridges....since 2005...most of New Roads go under-used.

Bridge and Tunnel upkeep in this state is a complete embarassment. And as for the PATH, I'm not sure how you can improve something that was invented in 1909.

Alot of states like MA , NY , CT are replacing the bridges piece by piece , NJ can do the same but chooses not to. Instead building new roads that don't get used that much.... Only a few bridges and tunnels need replacing that were build before the 1920s , the vast majority with some renovations will be fine. The Old Tunnels to NY once the New Tunnels open will be closed for 2 years and rebuilt allowing even more trains. So along with the New Tunnels allowing another 25TPH , the Old Tunnels will allow that aswell. So about 50TPH , which is different then the 15TPH capacity we have today. A few bridges like the Portal and Elizabeth Viaduct need to be completely replaced due to them falling apart and they have caused accidents in the past resulting in deaths. Bridges like the Delaware , Paulskill , and Pulaski Skyway just need to be renovated which is easier then it looks and only takes a few years but cheaper then replacing. For the billions the state pours into new roads it could easily replace or upgrade these bridges , and repave numerous roads...
