There is no good time to get through Delaware on 95 South on a saturday. Leave at 11:30 am friday. You may get lucky.

Approximately what time does traffic pick up in Delaware on 95 South. If I left at 7am from Paramus then I could possibly pass through Delaware by 9 or 9 15am if I do not hit traffic. Or do I need to leave earlier than 7am.

Getting back to your original question, I-95 disappears off the NJ Turnpike after a certain point and I-95 becomes an interstate off on its own. I would suggest jumping off the Pike and getting over to I-95 in NJ or PA as soon as you can thereby avoiding the rest of the NJ Pike and the DMB (Del Mem Bridge).

Several very practical ways to do this, get back if any questions.

do I get off at exit 7a on Turnpike to I-95. Also is there any backroads to avoid DE tolls.

Yep one of the easiest ways is to take I-195 West straight into NJ 29 (not 129) and then after the Trenton land tunnel there are 2 lights by the baseball stadium, either take US-1 South directly over the toll bridge, US 1 freeway direct to I-95 in PA South.
I usually go one quick (maybe 100 feet) exit further and take the next exit off NJ 29, and right around the block onto the toll free Trenton Makes (alt US1) bridge, then go a block to the left at the 2nd light on the Pennsy side right back to the US 1 freeway to I-95.

In Delaware there def is a way to bypass that toll, used to do it when it was only $1, but now its maybe $5. You can bet the locals don't pay that to drive one exit down the road.

You jump off the last exit in DE and take back roads to the next exit in MD, about a 5 or 10 minute ride.
You can look that up on evil demon racist censor Google maps or use any of the other non-evil, non-demon, non-racist, non-censor mapping sites

I wind up going past the toll booth on the road going past the driveway entrance to it.

Is the toll booth a cause for a lot of the traffic. My main goal is a smooth trip with as little traffic as possible. The $5 is not a concern. I just want to avoid traffic.

You'll be travelling on the main corridor of the most densely populated area in the country, there's no way to be sure that you'll avoid all traffic. Just take it easy, arm yourself with patience and plan on spending at least an extra hour on the road than what google maps says. Friday morning will probably be better than Saturday morning, and definitely better than Friday night.

The toll booth in DE is not a problem anymore since they opened the express EZ Pass lanes. If you leave Bergen Co by 7am on Saturday, and cut over to 295 instead of taking the NJTPK to the bridge it should be fairly smooth sailing. You may hit a little traffic on 95 in Delaware but once you pass Route 1, it clears. 95 in Maryland will likely be heavy but it should move fine during the morning hours.

All this advice is great.

In addition, how do I stay on I-95 on the return trip home as opposed to going on the Turnpike when I enter NJ from DE.
