Not trolling, but really what does this town have to offer in terms of schools and safety? The property taxes in Bergenfield are extremely high like Oradell. Their "downtown" is horrid. Wouldn't New Milford be a better living choice if you were looking to buy a house in that area opposed to Bergenfield? I can not figure out why anyone would want to live in that town. Your thoughts?

Well why would anyone want to live in any town that isn't Westfield, Ridgewood, Colts Neck or Princeton? Because of the relative affordability, proximity to NYC and the fact it's still in Bergen County. There are lots of places in NJ much worse than Bergenfield. You're just comparing it to its nearby peers...and trolling.

No, just looking at the property taxes it just doesnt seem like a worth while town. What is the value of living in a town where your property taxes are just as high as a nicer town like Oradell or New Milford even?

Because houses are 40% of the price they'd be in Oradell?

Bergenfield may not be among Bergen County's elite towns, but it's certainly nowhere near the worst in the county either. Yes, New Milford is nicer, and Oradell is in another universe altogether, but the housing prices there are more expensive to reflect that. Some people just don't have the money to life in fancier towns, even with more reasonable tax rates.

BTW, if you really want to see high taxes, check out West Orange.

If you have to start of a thread with "not trolling", odds are you are indeed trolling.

Bergenfield's not the sparkling gem of Bergen County but it's hardly a bad place for you to live.

There are many people of Phillipine descent in Bergenfield. I work in health care. Many Filipino nurses and their families enjoy Bergenfield....lots of Filipino businesses, too. I never hear a bad word about the town from them.
