Are people amused with Jersey TV Shows because there is lots of truth in the stereotypes?

Agreed. I live in Toms River and I see it a lot it here only because they have to drive through my town to get into Seaside, but when I'm in any other Jersey town it is pretty much non-existent.

I am Italian by genetics (3rd generation) and although I act like a normal person, my cousins who live in New York act and look like the Jersey Shore cast

When I was younger I was trained by my parents not to accept stereotypes and rejected all of them out of hand. Now that I am older and have traveled all over the world and met so many people, I have a different opinion. I believe that in MOST CASES stereotypes ARE true. Especially regional stereotypes.

There's always a grain of truth in every stereotype. The problem is the grain is often very small and not representative of the vast majority of the group the stereotype is applied to. If you see the "truth in the stereotype" it's most likely because you are looking for it.
