I recently moved to GA, with my 4 yr old who has Autism, and quickly realized I made a huge mistake. I want to move back up north, but undecided between PA and NJ. I hear the services are really good in the NJ public schools, but I know PA has medical assistance that covers all doctor appointments and therapies (including copays). If I go to PA, it'll be Bucks Co, and not sure where in NJ yet. Just looking for some advice, opinions, 2 cents, etc. I don't want to make another mistake.

While children with autism are young (like 7 years old or less), there are really many choices available. However, as they get older and still seem to have expressive and receptive language problems, the choices are few since these older children like 10 and up and being readied for life-skills programs.

I know some families with autistic children who live in northern NJ. As far as I know, those children are doing very well.

I've heard great things about Brick and East Brunswick.

I'm not sure if you're asking about the best towns to live in NJ which have the best school districts that service children with ASD, or if you're looking for a combination of best neighborhoods/best school districts for special ed? East Brunswick has long had a reputation of parents being extremely involved with their children's education and very vocal when it comes to advocating for their children with special needs. In that respect you'll have a huge support network. Bridgewater township also has excellent services, as does Edison (but very crowded busy area), Scotch Plains. You'll have to do some research yourself to see what fits your needs.

Bucks County PA is pricey but if money is no object it's a beautiful place to live. I have no idea what the school systems are like.

My two cents

Best of luck to you.
