Shouldn't have happened, the settlement seems excessive and the lawyer certainly doesn't deserve $220,000, and the vice-principal being reassigned is ridiculous, fire her.
What shouldnt have happened? What did the guy do that was so wrong? We are wayyy too soft on our kids. They can do whatever they want and we cant do a thing to them.
Did anyone see this story? I consider it a good example of the kind of racism that hispanics can expect in NJ. There was a settlement...with most of the money going to the lawyer. And the children were Puerto Ricans...who last time I checked are citizens of the United States.
Camden is an Abbott district where OUR state tax money foots most of the schools bills. I'm (highly offended) that I didn't get a huge "thank you" from one of the seven kids or the ambulance chasing lawyer.
Agreed the tax payer in the end got screwed since they took our money to pay this lawyer and those kids who didn't get any permanent injury for eating on the floor. People with permanent injury in car accidents got less than these kids.
Wouldn't be surprised if they are forced to cut services or lay off teachers because of the shyster lawyer.
I am hispanic and I applaud this principal for laying the law down and not ***** footing around these kids. We need more people like this guy. Sadly in this PC world we live in it will never fly and our kids will suffer for it.
No some other form of punishment, not eating on the floor. How would anyone like it if their children had to eat sitting on the floor. Their not animals, they're children. For Christ sake!
Absolutely insane that the kids won. The ONLY issue i find wrong is that if the teachers saw the taunting from the other students and allowed it to continue they should be reprimanded. If they didnt see the taunting, where were they, she should be reprimanded.

Whats more insane that years ago the headline would have read, " Vice Principal disciplines unruly kids to sit on floor and eat their lunch". No film at 11pm because she was right.
