I was sitting in the lobby of a hotel in Cherry Hill NJ and was listening to a group of about a dozen "50 something" women. They were all chatting in a very animated fashion and appeared they were all part of a group meeting in the hotel. Who ever said there is no truth in regional stereotypes had not seen these women. I had never seen a better description of the New Jersey working class stereotype in my entire life. These women should have been on television or the movies on some show about New Jersey. They were "classic Jersey!" ALL OF THEM!
I thought of a working class version of Judge Judy when I listened to these women talk to each other. They were a riot!
Can you describe a Jersey stereotype through a celebrity?
I asked a couple of the ladies where they were from and they said North Jersey. I told them I enjoyed listening to their conversation because they were so stereotypical Jersey. They laughed.
I didn't get that much information but maybe people who were born in Jersey closer to New York would display more stereotypical behavior than someone from extreme West Jersey near the PA line.

Many northern New Jerseyans are only a generation or two from living in Brooklyn, the Bronx, etc. and never really leave their accents from there behind. So many times what sounds like New Jersey is really Old Brooklyn.
