I have recently moved to Hoboken and am getting very intermittent cell phone reception. Currently I am with T-Mobile on a pre-paid plan (using an iPhone). Can any other Hoboken residents share their experience with cell phone reception as I would most likely move to a new provider as the service from T-Mobile is too unreliable.
i never had an issue with verizon when i lived there. i knew plenty of people with att also. att has some issues in manhattan, but i think they've worked that out.
I had very variable cell phone coverage in Hoboken with Verizon.
My dad lives on the 19th floor of a high rise, calls always drop except in a few areas of the apartment.
Along hudson street walking to the PATH you see the bars dipping between 3 and half a bar. You'll miss some calls for sure. Also factor the wind into that, you are screwed for about 3-4 blocks.
Thanks everyone, it sounds like mileage differs even with the same provider. Does anyone have experience with AT&T? The consideration I have with Verizon is that the handset won't work if I return to the UK whereas with AT&T it will. If the consensus is that Verizon has the best coverage I may go down that path, but I would prefer to go with another provider if possible so that I could use the handset in the event I return to the UK.

if you get the newest verizon iphone (4s i think?) it will work in the UK. there may be a few other verizon phones that work overseas as well, check the website.
No verizon service at 1Republik last night. Only half a bar.
