The deadliest city in America is disbanding its entire police force and firing 270 cops in an effort to deal with a massive budget crunch.
There have been a staggering 41 homicides in Camden, New Jersey, already this year but the Camden Police Department will be replaced with a force run by the county, which supporters say will cost significantly less and allow more officers on the streets.

It looks like it will be a county force instead of a city force.

It's ridiculous that they are cutting police in a city like Camden. They desperately need more cops!

I live in a small town where there are too many cops -- they have nothing to do but ticket people who go 1 mile over the speed limit (no, it didn't happen to me, but I've witnessed it).

yup got rid of 270 officers and added 400 more at the county level (where they will only patrol camden). Sounds like something that all cities should do. Save money and hire 130 more people!!!!

That's what happens when you run out of money....keep spending that way without any regard to towards budget and you go bust. The entire state of California and Illinois, not to mention the entire U.S. is on the brink. No surprise to me. Although it is surprising that people are surprised that states and cities can run out of money when you give it all away.
